Creating New Content

WP Spotlight’s Create feature provides an easy way to add new content across different post types on your WordPress site, directly from the search interface. This feature streamlines the content creation process, allowing you to skip navigating through the dashboard and instantly start creating posts, pages, and other custom content types.

Accessing the Create Feature

Open WP Spotlight: Use the main key bind Alt+S (Check key bind customization to set your own keyboard shortcut)

Select Create:

If you have a specific key bind for creating new content (default: Alt+C), you can use it to open the Create feature directly.

Otherwise, access it from the main WP Spotlight menu by selecting Create.

Creating New Posts by Post Type

Once you enter the Create menu, you’ll see a list of all available post types on your WordPress site. This might include Posts, Pages, Products (WooCommerce users) and any custom post types (like Portfolio or Testimonials) you’ve added to your site.

Here’s how to create a new post or page:

1. Choose a Post Type: From the Create menu, select the post type you want to create (e.g., Posts, Pages, Products, etc.).
2. Open the Editor: WP Spotlight will take you to the editor for the selected post type (a builder for a post or a page, the add new product page for a product etc).
3. Add Your Content: You can now start adding your content, such as text, images, and other media, to create a new page or post.
   
   NOTE: For posts and pages WP Spotlight will take you to the Gutenberg editor by default. From there you can switch to your preferred builder that is setup on your dashboard.

Example Workflow: Creating a New Blog Post

Here’s an example of how you can quickly create a new blog post using WP Spotlight’s Create feature:

1. Open WP Spotlight: Press the main key bind to open WP Spotlight.
   
2. Navigate to Create > Posts: Select Create from the main menu, then choose Posts from the post type list.
   
3. Start Writing: WP Spotlight will open the post editor for a new blog post, where you can add a title, write your content, and upload media.
   
4. Publish: Once you’re done, you can save your work as a draft, schedule it, or publish it immediately.
