Post Types Management
WP Spotlight’s Post Types Management allows you to easily access, view, edit, and manage various post types on your WordPress site directly from the search interface. This feature streamlines content management by giving you quick access to all your post types and associated actions in one place.
Accessing Post Types Management
Open WP Spotlight: Use the main key bind Alt+S (Check key bind customization to set your own keyboard shortcut)
Select Post Types:
- If you have a specific key bind for Post Types (default:Alt+Shift+P), use it to directly access Post Types Management.
- Alternatively, open WP Spotlight, then choose Post Types from the main menu.
Managing Post Types
Once you’ve accessed the Post Types menu, WP Spotlight will display all available post types on your site, such as Pages, Posts, Custom Post Types, and more. Selecting a specific post type will show you a list of posts or items under that type, along with options to manage each item. The main actions available in Post Types Management include:
- Edit With: You will see all builders installed and activated on your website. (e.g Edit wit Elementor, Edit with Bricks etc)
- Edit with Gutenberg: Open the default Gutenberg editor.
- View: Open the post on the front end of your website in a new tab.
- Trash: Move the selected post to the trash.
- Permanently Delete: Permanently remove a post from the dashboard.
Below is a detailed guide on using each action.
1. Edit With: Making Changes to a Post with Favored Builder
View All Posts: Once you select a post type (e.g., Pages or Posts), WP Spotlight will display a list of all items under that type.
Choose a Post to Edit: Click on the specific post you want to edit.
Edit With Action: Depending on the number of builders installed and activated on your site you may see multiple options here. (e.g Edit with Elementor, Edit with Bricks etc). Click on the editor you want to use to edit that post.
This action helps you make changes using the desired editor without needing to navigate through the dashboard.
2. Edit with Gutenberg: Making Changes to a Post with Gutenberg
View All Posts: Once you select a post type (e.g., Pages or Posts), WP Spotlight will display a list of all items under that type.
Choose a Post to Edit: Click on the specific post you want to edit.
Edit with Gutenberg Action: Click Edit with Gutenberg to open the post in the default Gutenberg editor.
This action gives you the option of always using the Gutenberg editor regardless of whether you have a builder installed and activated or not. Once in the Gutenberg editor you can always navigate to another builder from there.
3. View: Previewing Posts
View Post: After selecting a post type and choosing a specific post, click View to open the post on the front end in a new browser tab.
Live Preview: This option is useful for previewing how your post appears to visitors, allowing you to check your work without manually searching for the post URL.
Using the View feature lets you inspect posts quickly, ensuring everything looks as intended before or after edits.
4. Trash: Removing Unwanted Posts
Select a Post to Trash: After choosing a post type, pick the specific post you want to delete.
Trash Action: Click Trash to send the post to the trash. The item will be moved from the current list view to the trash folder, where you can recover it if needed.
Trashing a post doesn’t permanently delete it—it’s moved to the trash, where you can restore or permanently delete it later through the WordPress dashboard if required.
5. Permanently Delete: Complete Removal
Select a Post to Delete: After choosing a post type, pick the specific post you want to permanently delete.
Delete Action: Click Permanently Delete to completely delete the post from your dashboard. The item will be deleted forever and won’t be recoverable anymore.
Searching for a Specific Post
WP Spotlight enables you to search for posts by name within a selected post type. Here’s how:

- Select and Manage: Once you locate the post, you can immediately Edit, View, Trash or Permanently delete it as needed.
This feature helps you find and manage posts without scrolling through extensive lists, saving time and increasing efficiency.
